Bruce Springsteen’s new live EP, “Land of Hope and Dreams,” includes talks he gave against Donald Trump.
The “Born To Run” legend just finished a three-show run at Manchester’s Co-Op Live venue on May 14, 17, and 20. He has now released four songs digitally along with the intros from the shows.
“On May 14, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band opened their Land of Hope and Dreams Tour in Manchester, England,” it says on his biography page.
“Highlights from that first night are now available digitally as the ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ EP – including the title track, ‘Long Walk Home,’ ‘My City of Ruins’ and the band’s cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Chimes of Freedom.'”
He said that Trump’s government was “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous” at one point during the show.
He told the crowd, “In my home, the America I love and have written about, which has been a light of hope and freedom for 250 years, is now run by a corrupt, incompetent, and traitorous administration.”
Let freedom ring tonight! We call on all those who believe in democracy and the best of the American experience to stand with us and speak out against authoritarianism.
The rock star, who has been a harsh critic of Trump, attacked the White House chief and his political views again when he played “City of Ruin.”
He said, “Right now there’s some really weird, scary, and strange stuff going on out there.” People in the United States are being punished for exercising their right to free speech and speaking out against the government. This is going on now.
“The richest men in America are happy to leave the poorest children in the world to get sick and die.” This is going on now.
“In my country, they enjoy the pain they cause to loyal American workers in a cruel way.” They are getting rid of important civil rights laws that have made society more fair and open to everyone.
“They have turned their backs on our great allies and are now supporting dictators against people who are fighting for their freedom.”
“They are cutting money from American universities that won’t do what they want.” They are taking people off of American streets and sending them to jails and detention centers in other countries without giving them a fair trial. All of this is happening right now.
Trump replied with a long rant on the social media site Truth Social.
He wrote that The Boss was “dumb as a rock” and that this “prune” of a rocker should “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “normal fare.” We’ll all then see how things go for him!
Another thing he said was, “Never liked him. Never liked his music. Never liked his radical left politics. Most importantly, he’s not a talented guy. Just a pushy, annoying JERK.”
