The eight-track album moves between shimmering ambient passages

AggronympH’s Shivers In My Veins is a dark, emotionally charged journey through electronic gothic metal, where atmospheric beauty and crushing heaviness seem to constantly pull against each other. Released in February 2015, the eight-track album moves between shimmering ambient passages, grinding distorted guitars, thumping percussion and haunting vocals, creating a sound that feels as dramatic as it is deeply personal. There’s a recurring sense of melancholy running through the record, but beneath all that darkness, flashes of warmth and hope keep breaking through.

The instrumental opener, “The Emptiness Within,” sets the mood beautifully. Its billowing, airy atmosphere feels almost like drifting freely through layers of clouds, while glistening textures, rustling cymbals and harder beats gradually introduce a more substantial rhythmic presence. “Feels Like A Lie” takes a sharper turn, beginning with a liquid-like lightness before buzzing distortion and grinding guitars take over. Karu’vee Yang Shu’s gentle, despondent vocals emerge through the haze, giving the song’s lyrics about loneliness, emotional confusion and a relationship falling apart an especially vulnerable quality.

“Instincts,” featuring Peter, introduces rap into the mix, with his barely audible delivery contrasting against the softer female vocals. Meanwhile, “Overdose” pushes the emotional intensity further, exploring loss, isolation and the struggle to keep going when someone important is gone. The title track is another standout, its glimmering opening concealing a rumbling rhythmic undercurrent before Shu’s soft voice floats melancholically above the grinding guitars and pounding beats.

“Adhar (Darkness),” featuring Tahrima Islam and Abdallah Bin Haque Ratul, begins gently before erupting into heavy guitars, thumping beats and splashing cymbals. Its Bengali lyrics revolve around rediscovering buried emotions and searching for one’s lost sense of self. At the other end of the spectrum, “Incompleteness” dwells in loneliness and unfulfilled longing, while the closing instrumental “AggronympH” brings things down with glimmering, contemplative piano, its flowing melody offering a surprisingly tender farewell.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Saad Al Sami Arnob at InternalChaos Studio, the album brings together musicians from China and Bangladesh, with an international lineup that adds to its collaborative character. Across its shifting moods, Shivers In My Veins finds an absorbing balance between electronic experimentation, gothic atmosphere and metal’s raw emotional force.
