Chicago rapper G Herbo Admits He Doesn’t Know Who J Dilla Is, sparking surprise and mixed reactions from fans across the hip-hop community.
While appearing on The Adam Friedland Show, Herbo participated in a lighthearted game where he had to choose between two legendary music producers — J Dilla and Madlib. When the question came up, Herbo responded with clear confusion.
“Um, that was a white question. I don’t… Chicaplease go rapper G Herbo Adm Who are they?” he said, laughing off the moment.
Friedland attempted to provide some context, jokingly saying, “Well, let me tell you about hip hop culture. Herb, let me explain to you… No, they’re like two incredible [producers],” to which Herbo replied, “What do they do, though?”
Even after being told they were some of the best producers ever, Herbo still seemed uncertain and chose Madlib, despite not appearing familiar with either name. The clip has since gone viral, with many fans calling the moment shocking, especially given J Dilla’s iconic influence in the world of hip-hop production.
G Herbo Hospitalized Amid Health Scare
Shortly after the interview made headlines, G Herbo shared concerning news about his health. Posting from a hospital bed via Instagram Stories, he warned fans about a severe flu variant.
“Y’all be safe out here bro this new flu strand ain’t no joke,” he wrote in the caption of a photo showing him under medical care.
While the rapper didn’t disclose further details about his symptoms or condition, his warning aligns with recent reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which noted that the U.S. is experiencing its worst flu season in over 15 years. With an estimated 25,000 deaths this past winter — including over 100 children — the CDC urges people to take extra precautions.
G Herbo Mourns the Loss of His Father
Adding to what’s clearly been a difficult season, Herbo also recently revealed the heartbreaking loss of his father. During a livestream appearance with popular creator Kai Cenat, the rapper opened up about the grief he’s been dealing with, joined by his 6-year-old son Yosohn.
“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” he shared. “You know me, personally, I’ve been through a lot. I always overcome adversity. Trial, tribulations — there’s always triumph at the end.”
He continued, “I just lost my pops two weeks ago, two-and-a-half weeks ago. I still find a reason to get up and smile, to get up and work, to provide for my family, to be there for my children.”
