The two Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movies, Childhood’s End and The Light in the Sky are Stars, will be returning to cinemas in North America in the winter of 2024. GAINAX animated both movies, and they will be returning to Japan (August 25 and October 6) and Taiwan (October) this year. The anime is celebrating the Childhood’s End movie’s 15th anniversary (it premiered in 2008). The information was revealed during the Anime Expo panel by studio Trigger. In addition to the revival, the movie are also getting a 4K Blu-ray release for the first time on September 27 in Japan.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was animated by studio Gainax and ran for 27 episodes from April to September 2007. It was directed by the legendary Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima. Both of the Gurren Lagann animated movies which will be returning in Winter 2024 were also animated by Gainax, with the first premiering in Japan in September 2008, and the second one in April 2009.
